The Farmer and the Cobra

Once upon a time, in a small village, there lived a kind and compassionate farmer. He was known for his generosity and his habit of helping creatures in need. One winter morning, while walking through his fields, the farmer noticed a cobra lying on the ground, stiff and motionless. The cold winter air had nearly frozen the cobra to death. Moved by pity, the farmer carefully picked up the cobra and brought it home. Ignoring the warnings of others, he placed it near the warm hearth to revive it. Slowly, the cobra began to regain its strength. However, as soon as the cobra was fully revived, it raised its hood, hissing menacingly, and attempted to strike the farmer who had saved its life. Startled, the farmer managed to dodge the attack. Shocked and dismayed, he realized the danger of his compassionate act. Realizing that the cobra could not change its nature, the farmer quickly acted to protect himself. He grabbed a heavy stick and drove the cobra out of his home. Moral of the Story The story teaches us that kindness and generosity are virtues, but they should be exercised with wisdom. Some beings, by their nature, cannot be trusted, and blindly helping them may lead to harm.
