The Wise Owl and the Foolish Crow

In a large forest, there lived a wise old owl. The owl was known for his knowledge and fairness. He had seen generations of animals come and go, and many sought his advice on various matters. Near the owl’s home, a proud crow lived. The crow was known for his loud voice and impressive wingspan. He often boasted about how strong and fast he was.

One bright morning, the owl gathered the animals to announce that there would be a competition to find the smartest animal in the forest. "It will not be based on strength or speed," the owl explained, "but on wisdom and clever thinking." The crow, eager to prove himself, decided to participate, believing that wisdom was no match for his strength.

The first challenge was a puzzle. The owl asked the animals to solve a riddle: "What is the thing that is always in front of you, but you can never see?" Many animals scratched their heads, but the owl patiently waited. The crow, eager to win, quickly shouted, "The future!"

The owl nodded, pleased with the answer. "Correct," he said, “The future is always ahead of us, and yet, we cannot see it.” The crow, proud of himself, puffed out his chest, thinking he had already won.

The second challenge was a test of strategy. The owl placed a large, shiny acorn in the middle of a clearing. The task was simple: retrieve the acorn using only cleverness, not strength. The crow immediately swooped down to grab the acorn, using his speed and power to grab it quickly. But just as he landed, the owl blocked his way. "You may have strength, but you lack wisdom," the owl said calmly. "Look at the acorn closely."

The crow, puzzled, looked at the acorn. To his surprise, it wasn’t a real acorn—it was a cleverly disguised stone! The owl smiled. "The true prize isn’t always what it seems. Wisdom lies in seeing beyond the obvious."

At the end of the day, the owl declared the winner. It wasn’t the crow, as he had assumed, but a quiet rabbit who had carefully analyzed each challenge and used her mind instead of brute force.

The crow, humbled by his defeat, learned an important lesson that day. He realized that wisdom and strategy could often win the battle where strength and speed failed.

Moral :

Strength may win some battles, but wisdom and clever thinking are what ultimately lead to success.
