The Clever Rabbit and the Lion

Once upon a time, in a dense jungle, there lived a mighty lion. He was the king of the forest, but he was also cruel and greedy. Every day, he hunted and killed animals, not just for food but for his pleasure. The animals feared him greatly and wanted to find a way to stop his endless hunger.
One day, the terrified animals gathered for a meeting. “If the lion continues like this, soon none of us will be left,” said the deer. “We must find a way to protect ourselves,” added the monkey. After much discussion, they came up with an idea.
They decided to offer one animal to the lion every day, so he would not hunt them all. The lion, being lazy, liked the idea. He agreed and said, “If you send me one animal every day, I will not kill anyone else.” The animals had no choice but to obey.
For many days, the lion received his daily meal. One by one, the animals took turns sacrificing themselves. But soon, it was the turn of a clever little rabbit. Unlike the others, the rabbit did not want to be eaten. Instead, he decided to outsmart the lion.
As part of his plan, the rabbit deliberately walked very slowly toward the lion’s den. By the time he arrived, it was already late in the afternoon. The lion was furious. “Why are you so late?” he roared. “I am hungry!”
The rabbit bowed and spoke humbly, “Oh mighty king, please forgive me. I was on my way here when another lion stopped me. He claimed to be the true king of the jungle and said he was stronger than you.”
The lion’s eyes widened in rage. “Another lion? Who dares challenge me? Take me to him at once!”
The clever rabbit nodded and led the lion to a deep well in the forest. The well was filled with clear water, and when the lion peered inside, he saw his own reflection. The foolish lion thought it was the other lion.
The rabbit pointed at the water and said, “Look, my king! That’s the lion who stopped me. He said he would take over your jungle!”
Enraged, the lion roared loudly, and his reflection roared back. This made him even angrier. Without thinking, he jumped into the well, believing he would attack the other lion. But instead, he fell deep into the water and could not climb back up.
The lion struggled for a while, but the well was too deep. Eventually, he became exhausted and drowned. The jungle was finally free from his terror.
The rabbit quickly ran back and told the other animals what had happened. The whole forest cheered for the brave and clever rabbit. They no longer had to fear the lion, and they lived peacefully from that day forward.
