The Kind Stranger and the Starving Dog
Once upon a time, in a small town, there lived a poor but kind-hearted man named Ravi. He had very little to call his own, yet he never hesitated to help others in need. Despite his struggles, he believed in kindness and compassion.
One cold winter evening, as Ravi was returning from the market, he saw a starving dog shivering near a roadside. The poor creature looked weak, with its ribs showing through its thin fur. People walked past it, some ignoring its presence, while others shooed it away in disgust.
Ravi felt a pang of sympathy in his heart. He knew he had barely enough food for himself, but he could not bear to see the suffering animal. He reached into his small cloth bag and took out a piece of bread he had bought for his dinner. Kneeling beside the dog, he gently placed the bread before it.
The dog sniffed the bread hesitantly before devouring it hungrily. Its tail wagged weakly, and for the first time in days, it felt a glimmer of hope. Ravi smiled and patted its head softly. "You poor thing," he whispered. "No one deserves to go hungry."
Seeing the dog’s condition, Ravi decided to take it home. He wrapped it in his shawl and carried it to his small hut. There, he warmed some milk and let the dog drink to its heart’s content. The dog, now feeling safe and comforted, curled up beside Ravi and fell asleep.
Days passed, and with Ravi’s care, the dog regained its strength. Its fur became shinier, its eyes brighter, and its tail wagged with happiness. Ravi named it Moti and treated it like his own family.
One evening, as Ravi was returning from work, he heard urgent barking near his home. As he rushed forward, he saw a thief trying to break into his hut. Moti had sensed the danger and was barking fiercely to alert his master. The thief, startled by the commotion, fled into the darkness.
Ravi realized that his kindness had come back to him in the form of Moti’s loyalty. The dog he had saved had now saved him in return. He hugged Moti tightly, grateful for the friendship they had formed.
From that day onward, Ravi and Moti became inseparable. The villagers, who once ignored the starving dog, admired Ravi’s kindness and began treating animals with more compassion. His simple act of kindness had not only changed Moti’s life but had also inspired many others.
Moral of the Story:
Kindness never goes unrewarded. A small act of compassion can create a lasting impact and bring unexpected blessings in return.
